Storm IQ Tour Fusion
This ball is really fused with power
With its hybrid cover stock, you never go wrong with anything that has got the word IQ with it.
What struck me first when I saw the ball was the fragrance, it was so nice smelling that I could not help taking a second look at it. The blueberry muffin smell really makes me think of the muffins at breakfast.
Went online and did some research and was quite impressed with the specs, I am not being biased but I find that the Master line worked a lot better as compared to their Premier Line in recent months especially the Marvel and IQ series.
As mentioned in my previous postings, I like the IQ tour GOLD so much that I have two of them punched up nut sad to say they have met their early demise one week after another (but that’s besides the point) cracking up while sitting there do nothing.
Back to the TOUR FUSION, after seeing it at the shop, I had an opportunity to see someone bowled with it in league the next day, and boy I was impressed with the ball, for the person using it was able to play it well on 40ft relatively thick oil, talked to the bowler after the league and found out that he was actually using it out of box condition, and it actually was very clean through the thick head and mid lane, the ball revving up like the rest of the IQ and I took no hesitation in making my decision to drill up.
I had this drilled up at 42 x 4 x 53 which is what is the 4 x 4 x 3 ( on the storm drill chart ) to compliment my MARVEL S which has the same lay out.
First game out of box gave me a 268 in which I threw a couple of shots out to see if it was able to make the turn like the MARVEL S.
It was not as strong as the MARVEL S when I missed the target out, but it did do a strong turn off the target and came in carrying light but it never created splits.
I love the way the ball rev up, it’s just like how you would drive a muscle car or a high powered car, ever increasing in the power and its like it have endless energy even after hitting the pins.
This ball really lived up to its name of FUSION, the fusion of the solid and the pearl.

Storm Hy-Road & Hy-Road Pearl
Ah~~~
This is a winner from storm, from the Troad till now the Hy-road, this ball has never disappointed anybody, from medium dry lanes to oily lanes for the Hy-road, dry to medium oily lanes for the Hy-road pearl, the Hy-road family has never failed to perform itself time and again on different stages of the Bowling circuit including the esteem US Open.
This is my second Hy-road, the first was the original launch, drilled it rico.
This set of Hy-road for me was laid out 75 x 5 x 40 and both brought up to 2000 shine, to allow me to play from medium oily lanes to significantly dry lanes, on various parts of the lanes.

Storm Sync Premium
Like I mentioned earlier on, there are some balls that I don’t like and the sync series was one of the series that I didn’t really like.
So when my pro shop operator asked me to drill this sync premium up, I was not really keen on it.
But this ball came to the shop as the same time as the Marvel S and I was thinking maybe this could be a good 1-2 punch to compliment the Marvel S’s solid cover so I punched it up 4 x 4 x 3, same as the Marvel S and kept it OOB.
I thought that this ball would be laboring as much as the sync due to the same core but I was totally wrong about it.
This ball revs up nicely in the mid lane and carries the pins very well, I played various lines with this ball and even deep inside, when the Marvel S is starting to show signs of lethargy with the drying up heads, this ball just kept going and going.
A very good ball for medium to medium oily conditions.

Storm Speed Road
Everybody knows the R2S hybrid coverstock and the inverted Fe3 core is a winner from Storm. So when Storm bowling came out with the sister of the Hy-road in the Hy-road pearl, our friendly people at Storm Bowling made an edition of the solid version of the Hy-road and named it “Speed Road” Well, nothing much needs to be said about this ball, since we all know how good the Hy-road and the Hy-road pearl is especially when the Hy-road pearl shone brightly at the 2014 US Open. You need a solid Hy-road? Get the Speed Road. I have mine laid out 55 x 4.25 x 35 for an earlier roll as compared to my usual 75 x 5 x 40.

Storm Fire Side
Take the cover of the ever popular Hy-road and inside you put a victory road core. What do you have? One ball that should be in the ranks of the Hy-road and even stronger than the Hy-road in my opinion. As everybody knows the Hy-road is a very popular piece of equipment due to its versatility that’s why for a few years now they have not discontinued the ball. I have the Hy-road and the Fireside laid out the same, both OOB and the fireside is stronger off the brak point as compared to the Hy-road. If I can even petition Storm to make a ball to be released worldwide, this fireside would be one of those that I would petition for.

Storm Code Black
A few months back,my pro shop operator told me to wait for a new ball from storm that is gonna be a blast from the specifications that he got and he told me the name “codeblack” and I jokingly asked him “what kind of a ball is that with such a mysterious name?” Two months back, he came calling and asked me “when are you coming down to drill the codeblack?” I was like “HUH?you mean there really is a ball by that name?” And I told him “ok I will drill it when I got time to go down to the shop” And before I went down to drill the ball, whenever I have friends going down to the proshop he will ask them to call me and ask me “Walter ask you when you wanna drill the codeblack?” So what is so good about the ball that he keeps on wanting me to do and drill it? So I went down and have it drilled up. As usual I went for my 75 x 5x 40 lay out, kept it oob I wasn’t a fan of the RAD core by Storm, let’s just face it, even though I am a Storm/Rotogrip fan and have everything from storm from balls to drying powder to tape to wrist support to shoes to cleaning solution to even jerseys but that doesn’t mean I like every ball that they released, so when I saw the RAD core on the ball, I was also quite skeptical but since my ball driller is telling me that I won’t regret buying this ball, so I gave it a try. That night I went to play a 40ft thick oil league and boy that was the ball I was not willing to let go off until the last game. This ball was really a monster from freshly oiled lanes to even cutting through carry down, yes, that might be a few occasions that I hit the carry down and the ball skidded a while before making a turn into the pocket, but it was one of the few that really has the continuous motion even after hitting carry down. Not to mention that this ball was specifically allowed by the PBA to be used on the 2013 WSOB, Storm really has a winner in this ball.

Storm Tropical Breeze Solid & Pearl
modelled after the popular Tropical Storm series from Storm Bowling, And like its name, it’s really like a breeze as compared to the Tropical Storm. Though both the storm and the breeze are using the ever popular reactor cover stock but the core makes it a lot of difference in both balls. The tropical breeze is slightly milder than the tropical storm but it still gets the job done with the proper surface preparation. As usual I have the solid and pearl combo, laid out at 75 x 5x 40 but the pearl I left it oob and I did a surface preparation of the solid from 1500 to 500/1000/2000 lightly polished so I can get more bite on slightly oilier lanes. With this pair of balls, I was able to play straighter down the lane, for those who expect a big hook out of the ball, you might be disappointed unless you have a lot of hand on the ball, if not it will be just right for most bowlers. With the hybrid version as well, you can basically have the 1-2-3 punch that you ever needed for medium dry to dry lanes. However personally, I still wish they come out with the original Tropical Storm core.

Storm IQ Tour Pearl
IQ Tour Pearl, The ball that won PDW his 10th major title of his career. Personally, I am not a big fan of pearlized balls for they always give me the unable to play carrydown impression, hence most of my balls are either solid balls or hybrid(which I grow to love them for they give me the additional length that solids don’t). Had a few friends who bought this ball but they were complaining that the ball has got a lot of temperament and is a beast that is hard to control,so a lot of them ditched the ball after a few sessions with it,hence making me kinda skeptical about getting the ball. Well when PDW won the major with the ball,I was telling myself maybe its time to take a good look at the ball again plus after trying 2 of storm’s international iq series balls in the IQ300 which has a PFT™ - Progressive Friction Technology Hybrid Reactive cover and the IQ Score which has a PFT™ - Progressive Friction Technology Pearl Reactive cover and the C3™ Centripetal Control Core which is not flippy, I have decided to drill up a iq tour pearl. As usual it was laid out in 75 x 5 x 40 which actually allows me to play lanes that are over/under and easy to control, more hand on the ball which this lay out it will flip harder, less hand,it will just arc into the pocket nicely. No weight hole needed as I had a piece with a low top weight, kept in OOB. First time I played with it was on lanes that was 36 feet oiled lanes relatively thick oil, it was versatile for me as I was able to play straight down the 5th board with it and as the night progressed on,I was able to move in until the 30th board while maintaining the breakpoints from 5th to 15th boards, despite the fact that at break point 15th board, sometimes the ball will hit light, it still carried well, and maybe of the core,it wasn’t as flippy as what you would expect out of pearlized balls usually. 2nd outing with the ball,I was playing it on a house with super thin on which I usually would use a ball for drier lanes or urethane but with this ball I was able to stay in on the 3ith board, swing the ball out to the 3rd and it will just flip and carries the pins,as if the light oil doesn’t not even affects the ball at all, does not even have the issue of ball laboring. 3rd outing was at a house with 40ft of oil,oh well, I thought I was killing myself by using such a ball on a 40ft oiled lanes but boy I was wrong, all I needed was just to play down the arrow,it doesn’t make a big hook off the breakpoint but it does carries the pins,as the games weared on a due to the high volume of oil, carry down was fast and I move parallel either left or right and I was able to play the lanes again,up till the point where parallel movement was not carrying,I just took a 1000 grit pad sanded it down by hand and it was able to play the lanes again and when the 1000 grit was not carrying all I needed was to take out the 500 grit pad, sand down by hand and it just goes on and on,like the energizer rabbit not losing any reaction in midlane or off the breakpoint. This ball is truly a versatile ball like what was advertised and advocated by the pros, with the right lay out and right surface preparations, you have a definite winner and now I have 2 of these, one already drilled up and another one for keeping in case I need another different lay out. Do not hesitate to play with the surface of the ball, this ball is just another ball waiting to be inducted to the hall of fame of bowling balls (if there is any) note: grip was initially for conventional grip due to some injury i had to the finger but has been plugged up to finger tip grip.

Storm Lights Out
I needed something that is not that aggressive as compared to the frantic but one step higher than the breeze and the urethane, so drilled up the lights out. 75 x 5 x 40, oob. First look at it, I didn’t really like the way it rolled, so brought it up to 2000 shine. Instantly the ball changed into a beast, versatility to play different parts of the lanes were the best thing for this ball given the right surface, so if you need a ball for versatility it’s the ball to go to.
